I am new to this and still setting up my chart of accts
I can't seem to be able to delete Liability 2310 Source Deduction Payable it says a subacct is in use. You can't delete this primary acct.
Why?
Hi Colleen, the Source Deduction Payable account and it's sub-accounts (Taxes Payable, EI Payable, CPP Payable) are system accounts and part of our payroll module. It's not recommended to delete those, but if you really want to, give us a quick call at 1-800-667-7893 and we can talk you through the process - it's a bit of a to-do. Typically, you just have to delete the sub-accounts first, but in this instance those sub-accounts are referenced in the payroll module so you have to delete stuff out of there first.
The reason we don't recommend deleting them is we find quite often that even though people believe that they'll never use payroll and so can just delete the payroll associated items from the software - 2 or 3 years later they do have an employee and need to put it all back in which makes getting up and running on payroll less fun than it could be for the client.
