Hello; we have a failed laptop, but the hard drive is still good and has the current data (backup data is months old). Bought a new laptop, connected the old HD as a second HD and I can see the Ag Expert data files on the old laptop HD. How to copy the data from the old good HD to the new laptop? Could I just copy the data folder over?
Hi John, although we strongly recommend restoring data files through AgExpert (via File > Restore) you could certainly copy/paste the entire folder. Right click your start menu and left click Windows Explorer. Click on MyPC or Computer on the left hand pane. Find your old HD on the right hand pane and double left click it. Locate the data folder that contains your files. Right click the data folder and left click on copy. You can now go to Desktop or anywhere you choose on this computer, right click and click paste. I recommend keeping these files in the default data directory, which is My Documents\Analyst\Data. I hope this helps!
