It would be useful if an additional layer of subaccounts would be added for chart of accts. For example -
Header- Inventory
Sub account- Grain Inventory
Sub sub account- Corn
- Soybeans
- Wheat
Then each subaccount should subtotal and then all subtotals add to total for Header Inventory. This could be applied to many areas in the chart of accounts (Ex - Feed accts, livestock accts, land accts - list out each parcel separately to clearly see each land asset. Farm managers want to clearly see where the money is going without having to export to excel and then drill down farther. This would add value to the balance sheet and income statments so that feed costs can quickly be seen as a subtotal rather than a total only of the cost of good sold.
