What account should I charge costs related to training that we took?

    Good morning Laurel!

    There isn't a real clear cut answer for this question, I'm afraid. It depends on a few factors.

    1) What kind of training did you take?
    2) Will you be able to claim the training as tuition or education on your T1 return?
    3) Will you be reimbursed any of the cost of the training?

    A lot of training expenses are non-deductible for a number of reasons. I would consult with your accountant and get a professional opinion. If it is deductible, you can either set up a separate account for Training Expenses to classify these payments to, or slip them into the same account as other Professional Fees (such as your accounting and legal fees).
