Hi Brenda. You can split out the "chunk" you want from the original transaction so you can sell it. Go to your Setup menu and select Capital Assets. Find the capital asset you are wanting to split, select it, and hit the Split button on the right. This will create a new asset, and you'll need to enter a description for the 'new' piece.
