I'm looking to add my capital assets to my financials, some were purchased in 2018 and we started using the program in 2021, when I try to add a fiscal year it only adds years to come, is there a way to add years that have already happened so these properties depreciated appropriately in the system ?

    Good afternoon Carolyn!

Historical capital assets have several things that need to happen in order for them to be accounted for. As a general rule, though, the most important thing is to get them into your current capital asset list.

If you are using AgExpert Analyst (desktop), go to Setup > Capital Assets. You can add any historical assets into your list directly by clicking Add.

This will not affect your balance sheet. This will simply add the assets to your current asset listing. If an opening balance for each capital asset class has not yet been entered, then step 2 would be to go to Setup > Chart of Accounts (in your 2021 fiscal year). Scroll down to your capital asset pools, click on an account, and click Opening Balance.

The process is similar on the online version. Add your individual capital assets by going to More > Capital Assets.

Then, go to Chart of Accounts, scroll to your capital asset pools, and click on them to insert the opening balance.

Let me know if you have any further questions at all!
