If I add a fiscal year it continues on under the previous years name. I want to start a whole new year under a different name so I can keep each year separate

There are several benefits to having multiple years in one data file. The first is that when you backup your file you backup everything. The second is simplicity (you don't have to open a file every time you want to access a different year). The third is convenience (for year-end adjusting entries and reporting). Most people these days will simply rename their data file through Windows (by right clicking the file and clicking rename), so that it isn't tied to a particular year. For instance, John Doe Farms Ltd. instead of John Doe Farms Ltd. 2015. If you still wish to have an entirely separate data file, you will have to go to the File menu and click on New. Fortunately, there is an option at the bottom right to import a chart of accounts and contacts from another set of books, which I recommend doing to make the new setup faster.
