I received a copy of my year end data from the accountant (not sure if it is accountants copy) and am not sure how to restore the data. also how can I determine whether or not I have downloaded the data correctly. Thanks in advance. I'm using the 2016-03 version.
Good morning 'freda!
To tell for sure what you have been given, you have to look at the file extension of what you received. You might be able to see this information if you received the file via email. If it is on a memory stick, or downloaded onto your desktop, then you can see this information by right-clicking on the file and going to Properties. From there, you will look at the file type.
If the file is type .agexbackup, then this is a backup file. This type of file needs to be restored by going to File > Restore in AgExpert. Be careful if this is the case - if you have done any work since your accountant received the file, then the work you have done since then will be lost! With backup files, it is strongly advised you stop working while your accountant has the file.

If the file type is .agextransfer, then you have been given your clients copy from your accountant. You will go to File > Import Accountant's Copy to deal with this type of file. It is the best, and recommended way, to get your accountant to do adjustments, since you do not need to stop with your data entry to deal with this type of file.

You'll know that the data has been imported correctly when you see your accountant's entries in your data file. They will almost certainly appear in your 5 most recent transactions on your AgExpert Analyst Dashboard. Make sure that you are not attempting to import or restore from your email directly. Save any files from email to your desktop, and then attempt to import or restore from there.
I hope this helps!
