I need some help trying to fix my inventory. When I do a trial balance I have a figure showing in an account that I want to be zero yet when I go to inventory adjustment it shows quantity as zero and unit value as zero. I tried to post through the general journal and it wont let me either. I am trying to get all my grain inventory (for example) into one account that says grain inventory so that at the end of the year I can make the adjusting entry from the accountants. We do not use the inventory option throughout the year as I find it very frustrating. This program seems a little too advanced for the type of bookkeeping we need to do. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This is a little difficult to troubleshoot, since I'm not able to see your screen. I have a couple of questions for you:
1) What is the latest fiscal year you have setup in your file? You can go to Setup > Fiscal Years to find this information. I would be looking for the first fiscal year listed on the left side of the screen.
2) What date are you attempting to post this entry for? Is it in the current fiscal year, or a prior fiscal year?
Once I know the answers to these questions, I think I would be able to give you the best course of action.
