I must be getting old....took a long time to find where I can ask a question. We are a small farm so don't need to keep inventory of harvested crops or raised cattle. However, I do input the number of cattle etc or crops that we sell or buy on posted transactions but don't want them linked to inventory. Is there a way to bypass the inventory so it doesn't produce an inventory adjustment on the income/expense report?

    Good morning Ruth!

If you want to bypass the inventory portion of the entries that are done, you will need to break the link between your income/expenses and inventory.

To do this, go to Inventory > Setup Inventory Accounts. This screen will list all of your income & expense accounts, and what inventory account they are associated with. On each line, you will click on the red X button tot he right of the inventory account. This will remove the inventory link. Make sure to do all of your income and expenses. Click on OK when you are done.

This will break your inventory link. When you post purchases and sales at this point, you can still enter the quantity you bought or sold, but it will no longer attempt to adjust inventory in the background. It will simply post those items so that they print as normal on the reports.

    I hope this helps!
