I am trying to set an employee up. I have printed off the Canada Revenue online payroll deductions calculator. I have done my AgExpert update for 2019. When I try to process a cheque for my employee the CPP calculates properly but the taxes are off just a bit for both Federal and Provincial. Is there something else I should do?
Small variances in taxes are expected due to the way that the calculations are completed with the online calculator. As long as CPP and EI are exact and the tax calculation variance is relatively minor, there is no need for concern. If the tax variance is substantial, check to make sure that you have the TD1 amounts set correctly on the employee setup Payroll Info tab.
