I am in the process of switching from Quickbooks to AgExpert and have been trying to import the list of vendors to my new data file. The problem I have experienced is getting the *.txt file from the Quickbooks. The issue is that Quickbooks allows for *.iif files only and not regular text files. Simply changing the extension of a file (.iff to .txt) is not solving the issue, obviously. I was wondering if anyone had hit the same wall and came up with a solution.

It would also be nice to see a sample *.txt file that was successfully imported to AgExpert; it would be helpful to see the formatting of that file.

Quickbooks should allow you to export your lists to .txt.  I know that AgExpert Analyst will import from .txt for Customer and Vendor/Supplier lists, and will import from .iif for Employee lists.  If you require a sample of what the text file would look like, send us a quick email and we can reply with a file for you to reference.

Even with all of the testing we do, this import function is only as good as the last export we were able to get from Quickbooks.  The moment that even a comma switches places in their export it invalidates our import process.  We try to keep this updated and working for our clients, but the unfortunate fact is that the import wizard will only ever work as long as Quickbooks maintains the same formatting on their export.  Please feel free to contact the customer support line at 1-800-667-7893 if you are unable to resolve the issue.  Sometimes we can force the file to work, or at the very least we will be able to identify for you the edits required to the .txt or .iif file to allow it to import successfully.
