hi renting land this year not sure where to put the income and the gst from it thanks
Hi Arlene! I replied to you by email, but I will also answer you here so others can search out this answer!
You will need to go to Setup > Chart of Accounts, an dmove over to the income tab. You need to add an account for land rent, so you will need to determine where you want to see it (I suggest in the Other Income section). Once you find a spot for it, click on Add, and setup the account with a new account number and Detail as the class.
Click on Create Account, and click on Yes to the confirmation message. Give the account a description, and make sure the GST option is set to Yes. Save the account.
Once saved, you will be able to use this account to claim your income from land rent, and allocate GST collected as necessary. When you do your GST return, the amount you claim as GST will appear on your GST return as collected.
