Disqus Agexpert Accounting Questions Archive

Every year i question myself regarding year end. I have saved my info to a USB for accountant. I have done all the trail balance ,processed GST ,etc. But now i want to work on the new year. Is it the accountants copy i go to? Create a dividing date and then go to fiscal when i am ready to get rid of dividing date? Thanks for any input

If you've saved your info to a USB for the accountant then you have a couple of options. You can give that to the accountant for review and they can provide you with adjusting entries for you to enter yourself- in the meantime, you can go ahead and add the next fiscal year and carry on so you don't get behind.

IF your accountant enters the year-end adjustments for you then you would want to use the accountant's copy instead of what you have on the USB.

First add the next fiscal year so that you have something to work on. Then create the accountant's copy and set your dividing date. Save the Accountant's copy file to your USB and send that to the accountant. You can carry on so you don't get behind and the accountant can do their work using the accountant's copy. When they're finished, they save their work back to the USB and send it back to you at which point you would merge their changes into your file.

There are two articles in that list - Creating Accountant's Copy and Importing Accountant's Copy - I'd give both of those a read/watch if you were going to go that route.
