what is the benefit of this accounting program, (Agexpert Analyst) over Simply Accounting?
I use and train both AgExpert Analyst and Simply Accounting. The benefits to me of Analyst over Simply Accounting are:
- more user friendly for data entry in more ways than one
- GST/HST remittance feature is SUPERIOR in Analyst
- Payroll remittance feature is SUPERIOR in Analyst
- payroll updates are included in the annual update cost of the product (not a separate fee)
- you can track volumes/quantities in your data entry in Analyst which you can then use in reporting (for example, litres of fuel must be reported in Prince Edward Island for a fuel tax # and these can be recorded along with the $ of fuel purchased. There are many other examples of how recording quantity data could be useful.)
- the management tools available to you in Analyst - financial ratios are reported, you can determine cost of production for your products, built in loan calculator, cash flow projection tool, budgeting tool, etc.
- you can track crops and livestock inventory in Analyst (can do inventory tracking in Simply, but it is not designed for agricultural inventory tracking and things like births, deaths, production, cullage, etc.)
- reporting for AgriStability is available in Analyst (although I would call this an advanced feature)
- the one area where Simply is better is in the area of invoicing. You can generate invoices in Analyst. In Simply, you can enter quotes and convert them to invoices and provide more detail.
- the "enhanced view" user interface of Simply Accounting has some nice features - such as customizing the quick links for functions and reports. Analyst also has what they call the Dashboard which is a similar feature. The dashboard itself is not customizable, but the toolbar which can be used for shortcuts to frequently used parts of the program does.
