What are some pros and cons to using computer generated cheques?
There are only pros to cheque printing.
The hardest thing for me to do as a trainer is to convince clients to move to cheque printing. However, once they start printing cheques, they wonder how they ever had the time to write them by hand. Personally, I have been printing cheques for 15+ years - it is so easy and a huge time saver. Other pros:
1) the transaction is recorded in order to print the cheque, so it helps you to keep current with your books
2) they are more professional looking
3) employees get a pay stub on their payroll cheques
4) if entering invoices as payable charges and then printing cheques as payable payments, the invoices you are paying are listed on the cheque stub
5) if you have entered complete mailing addresses for your payees in Analyst, you never have to address an envelope again by purchasing and using self seal, double window envelopes (you can forget about using labels)
6) it's so easy
7) you can write on printer cheques so if you ever need to manually write a cheque, you can (or you can still carry a cheque book for manually writing cheques as needed)
