Disqus Agexpert Accounting Questions Archive

We are mixed farmers, dairy, crop, and cattle. Do we set up a different set of books for these enterprises or just do it under one farm name and add the enterprises under the one set of books

    Hi Yvonne, you could setup multiple sets of books for each enterprise however that might end up being a lot of work. Depending on the size of each enterprise and if it is okay with your accountant, perhaps it would be more beneficial to enter all the transactions into one database. If you click on the Setup menu > Enterprises you can add the various enterprises here (i.e dairy, cattle, crop, etc...). Afterwards, from the Setup menu > Chart of Accounts, you can edit and assign one or more of those enterprises to the desired income or expense accounts. This configuration will allow you to generate certain reports that pertain to those specific enterprises. I hope this helps!
