Recently, I have been cleaning up our files. Yesterday, I backed up the file, saving it under a date specific folder on our computer. I did the same today, before I started making changes. I went to restore the backup from earlier today, and even though the software tells me the restoration is complete, all the changes I had since made also appear. So I went to restore the backup from yesterday, and I face the same situation. Nothing changes when I restore the backed up version. Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong?
Good afternoon Michele.
It's hard to say, without actually being there when you were running this process. There are 3 things you want to look at when you are doing the restoring:
1) What is the name of the file you are currently in? If you look at the top of your screen, it should tell you this information.
2) What is the name of the backup file you are restoring? Is there any difference in the naming of the file at all?
3) What is the location you are restoring your file to? Is it exactly the same as the location you are currently working out of?
If the name of the backup varies at all from the name of the file you are currently working in, then the backup will not overwrite the existing file. Instead, it will create a copy of the file in the same location, with the name of the backup as the name of the file it creates. You can go to File > Open to open this copy, and confirm the data you see within it.
If everything looks like it should be overwriting, but it appears not to be, I would ask that you give us a call at 1-800-667-7893, and we can login to your system to take a look at the backup file itself.
Thank you very much!
