Hi Karen! I really really hope that you were able to get an answer on this question already and I'm sorry that we missed the comment! Thankfully we had a new guy start here and he was scrolling through the message boards when he saw this.
There isn't any way to make it non-editable. If you accidentally date a transaction into a previous year then it will absolutely go there. Keep in mind that the program will first warn you that you are posting outside your current fiscal year so there's a bit of a safeguard there. Also, if you did accidentally post something in, fixing it is as easy as selecting the item and clicking on Full Edit or Reverse.
